Back to the Basics! [Layout Marathon]

SIGN UPS: August 15, 2010 – August 31, 2010
DEADLINE: September 14, 2010
LAYOUTS UP: September 15, 2010 – October 15, 2010

  1. This is a layout marathon meant to bring out the lul-zy of MS Paint. This means: no textures and no fancy layer effects (vivid light, exclusion, etc. etc.). You are free to interpret the limitations of MS Paint otherwise. (Mac users: there is an OSX clone of MS Paint called Paintbrush available for download here.)
    • YES: tracing, using a tablet
  2. This is for existing shrines only. If you would like to join this layout marathon with a non-shrine site (i.e. your domain, a fanlisting), there is a separate sign up at the Amassment message board. You will get updates for both at the community.
  3. If you want to participate, use the sign up form located at the bottom of this post. Comments are screened!
  4. Reply to this post again once you are finished with the layout. The finished form is located at the bottom of this post.
  5. Please email me if you for some reason cannot finish your layout in time so that I know not to expect a finished form from you!
  6. As a thank you for participating, you will receive a 88x31 button (or another size if you specify) with made by me once you have submitted a finished form.
  7. Your layout must be up for at least the time specified! (September 15 – October 15) You are welcome to 1) put it up before the deadline or 2) take down the layout afterwards or leave it up as long as you want after October 15.

All sites contained within Persephone.nu, run by monophobia (If you're not comfortable with being listed, let me know and I'll remove it!)
Know any other examples? Let me know and I'll list them.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me! And most importantly: have fun!!

1. Is it okay to edit the mspaint picture with 'basic' stuffs in photoshop? Like Brightness/contrast, multiply, layer opacity?
2. Or, does the whole design process have to be done in paint?
The whole design process has to be done in paint (barring fancy CSS). Think of it as Photoshop/PSP never having existed :p
Can you copy and paste web images? (Say, a photo or official art of your subject.) I notice some of Barbara's pages contain these.
Most definitely! I only meant to exclude fancy Photoshop effects from being used on the image(s), not the image(s) themselves.
Hi! I'm almost done with the layout, but I will be away from home and got no uploading convenience from around September 10th to 16th. Can I have the layout up before that date? :x
Of course! I didn't put a limitation as to how soon the layout could be up :) Just remember to submit a finished form!
